“Just a bit more” I said to myself. My legs were burning, they felt like led. Then a faint growling noise reached my ears. “Not now, not now.” I muttered . I quickened my pace, I had to get there. After 5 minutes, I reached The Place. It was there. 10 meters away. Then I heard the growling again. It seemed near. . 100 meters away, I saw my nightmare. Night. It ran towards me . Then I ran towards The Place quickly. I just had to see what was inside. I put my hand on the doorknob, then darkness.

A long time ago on a really dark night my father told me not to open that mysterious computer until he left on a trip.  After the goodbyes I was all alone I had nothing to worry about because my father wasn’t there. my eyes froze on that computer and greed came over me. My hand was trembling and when I opened the computer, suddenly the house started to shake like an earthquake. I had my eyes closed because it was horrible and scary. As soon as I could open my eyes again, I could only see white.

I stared at the TV in shocked silence. It couldn’t be. It wouldn’t be, surely. But there it was. Right in front of me. My own father,  in prison for attempting to break into the houses of parliament. I felt a pang. . He’d given me a box, warned me not to look inside. But now he was in prison, the force that held me back was gone. I just had to see what was inside. My fingers fumbling, my hands shaking, I slowly lifted the lid. Resounding groans rang across the house. There, inside, who I really was.

It was midnight. The haunted hour. Tom and I were doing something extremely bad. Something terrible. Something so horrible I can’t even say it. While following this evil plan, we carefully scaled the roofs of The Houses Of Parliament. Looking towards Big Ben. If we got caught, we would be in extreme amounts of trouble. But we had to do it. We had no choice. We saw two policemen emerge from the trapdoor and started running towards us. We stepped back. I heard a crack. It was Tom. He had fallen. “I’m trying to hold on!” He shouted. Oh no…….

‘I’m trying to hold on,’ he shouted ‘I can’t take it anymore’ his arms extended as the thought of losing Elizabeth rippled through his everlasting mind. His one true love gone, his one true love leaving this godly earth, he could not survive, he believed, he thought when she’s gone, he’s gone. Well we know that’s not true now, but at that present moment that was all he could think about.

I felt the ground lurch beneath me. I was swept off my feet. Landing on something hard, I felt blood trickling down my neck. It was warm. Sticky. My head was swimming. I heard Edmund screaming. Suddenly the ground began to shudder once again. One more jerk was all it took. I was thrown off the edge, with only one hand clinging on. A couple metres away, I could make out Edmund struggling to grip onto the edge.“I’m trying to hold on”, he shouted. My hand began to feel numb. I couldn’t feel anything anymore. I let go…

He woke, feeling drowsy and annoyed. “Do I really have to go to school” he snarled. He got ready and stepped into the back seat of a Honda Civic. As the car drove off, he noticed an unusual figure beside the road. Suddenly, suspense filled the air, He broke out in a cold sweat and violently, the car spun off the road. When he gained conscience, the car was hanging off the edge, and so was he. His parents were shouting but he didn’t understand. The only words that escaped his mouth were “I’m trying to hold on!” He shouted.

Slowly, I climbed up to the barren, broken roof, hearing music through the greasy glass panes of the skylights. I grabbed the windowsill (which was furry with mold, eughh) and pulled myself down. I checked to see if my getaway vehicle was still sat outside. The heist had begun. I leapt gently onto the shaggy woollen rug, and saw the safe, ‘hidden’ behind an art fixture. Grabbing my tools, I pulled out my lock pick and twisted the keyhole twice. A satisfying click sounded. I opened the safe, and groaned. A sign inside told me: “Better luck next time 😛”

“Mommy who is that?” I asked eagerly. “That is the statue of your great grandfather” replied mother.”shall I tell you about him?” “Yes mommy” I said. She put me on her lap and started to tell the tale of my great grandfather. “I was just a girl when my mother told me; he was a brave soldier who was part of a resistance team that were fighting off the nazis.” A tear rolled down her cheek as she stared off into the blazing fire in the living room. “His name was Alexandrine; he joined the resistance team at the age of 15. He died  whilst on an undercover mission trying to save civilians. No one found his body to this day so they built this statue in honour of him.”

As the Nazis had led their destructive weapons into London, my thoughts bolted through my brain as I had stood proud and brave, I was one of the many that stood up to the Jerrys. Reaching for the 3 grenades and the ancient rifle, I defended our family, I got to fight alongside my best mates, we were against them, we were in this together, we were… the resistance. It was time for the greatest battle in history to take place, right there. This was the last battle we had to worry about, but then, I faced the dreaded death.
